Petition To Save Land Adjacent To The Coal Creek Natural Area

Isola Homes, a developer, has submitted permit applications 16-143970-LK, 16-145946-LO, and 19-121109-LL to the Bellevue Development Services department to construct a 35 home Planned Unit Development (PUD) on the west side of Lakemont Boulevard SE, adjacent to Coal Creek Natural Area. As a result, the existing horse pasture, barns, 3 rural homes, and 65 mature trees would be removed. The development would block a heavily used wildlife corridor connecting the Coal Creek Natural Area and the Cougar Mtn. Regional Wildland Park. Also lost would be the last coalminer dwelling at Coal Creek—Milt Swanson's home across the street from the Red Town Trailhead—and the rural character of the land.

I, the undersigned, am opposed to the proposed Isola Homes PUD and urge the city of Bellevue to purchase the property and conserve it as a critical wildlife corridor and for its historic value and add it to the Coal Creek Natural Area.
