Join the Issaquah Alps Trails Club and King County Parks as we continue restoration efforts at Big Tree Ridge Trailhead. Last fall, we worked to remove invasive species, primarily ivy and blackberry bushes, to protect the forest and clear space to plant trees. In March, we repopulated conifers in an alder-maple forest, adding 150 shade-tolerant trees such as western redcedar, Douglas-fir, grand fir, Sitka spruce, and western white pine. For this restoration event, we’ll be checking in on our newly planted trees and clearing debris. We’ll also be removing any invasive species that have started to grow back in order to give the conifers we planted plenty of room to grow in the upcoming summer months!
