Urban Forest Management Plan - Taking Care of the "Wilderness Within"

Our visionary leader (from an earlier time), Harvey Manning, often wrote of the special wild places close to human habitation, within the influence of man, in contrast to the wilderness without the influence of man, where man is a visitor. These green spaces, he wrote, offer “the salvation of the soul of a community, providing refuge minutes from home.” The Issaquah Alps are a collection of such green places that we, as a club and as individuals, celebrate, preserve, protect and promote. We, the residents of Issaquah, have a unique opportunity to be stewards of these wild places close to our human spaces, which we affectionately call the “Wilderness Within.”

Under the leadership of Dan Hintz, Issaquah’s Urban Forest Supervisor, the City of Issaquah has launched an effort to prepare an Urban Forest Management Plan and seeks your input. You can help shape the vision of Issaquah’s urban forest management by taking the following survey:

Before you take the survey, you can learn more about the Issaquah Urban Forestry program from this short 3-minute video prepared by the City:
